Invitation
The Organizing Committee of ESASGD 2016 - the International Conferences on Earth Sciences and Sustainable Geo-resources Development are pleased to invite you to participate in the event, which will be held in Hanoi, Vietnam from 14th to 15th of November 2016.
The ESASGD 2016 are organized on occasion of the 50th Anniversary of Hanoi University of Mining and Geology and will be an excellent opportunity to share experiences, and to stimulate and enhance scientific research cooperation in Earth sciences and sustainable Geo-resources development, etc.
After the first announcement, the ESASGD 2016 has received more than 300 papers of scientists and managers from Vietnam, Poland, Canada, Germany, France, Russia, China, Japan, Thailand, Pakistan, Laos…
ESSAGD will focus on the following themes and parallel conferences:
Theme 1 (IPE): Integrated Petroleum Engineering will cover all aspect of Applied Geophysics, Chemical Engineering and Oil and Gas Processing, Drilling Engineering, Oil and Gas Gathering, Petroleum Equipment and Construction, Petroleum Geology and Geophysics, Petroleum Production Engineering, Petroleum Reservoir Engineering, Safety and Environment in Oil and Gas Industry.
Theme 2 (GAG ): Geology and Geo-resources will specialize in Engineering Geology – Geotechniques, Hydrogeology and Water Resources, Mineral Resources and Exploration, Petrology – Geochemistry, Regional Geology and Tectonics.
Theme 3 (ICAMT 2016): Advances in Mining and Tunneling will focus on Advances in Material and Structural Engineering, Tunneling and Infrastructure Construction, Tunneling in Difficult Conditions, Drilling and Blasting, Mineral Processing, Mining Management and Safety, Mining Technology and Technique, and Slope Stability.
Theme 4 (GIS IDEAS 2016): Geoinformatics for Natural Resources, Hazards and Sustainability (co-organized with Vietnam-Japan Geo-informatics Society) will identify Area Informatics and Applications, Climate Change and Revitalization, Education and Outreach, Geoinformatics in Coastal Development Planning and Management, Geoinformatics for Sustainable Use and Management of Natural Resources, Watershed Development Planning and Management, Geoinformatic Technology and Inovations, Technical Sessions on Geoinformatics technologies and applications, Urban Management and Smart Cities, Visualization of Spatio-temporal Geoscientific Data.
Theme 5 (EMNR): Environmental Issues in Mining and Natural Resources Development will be on Emerging Technologies for Environmental Protection and Monitoring, Environmental Education and Communication, Environmental Engineering in Mining and Natural Resources Usage, Environmental Hazard and Risk Assessment, Environmental Impact Assessment and Sustainable Geo-Resources Management, Environmental Modeling and Management Tools, Environmental Security and Safety Issues in Mining, and Recycling and Waste Treatment Technology.
Theme 6 (EMMA): Economic Management in Mineral Activities will specialize in Environmental protectionn and sustainable development, Mining policies, Occupational safety and health management, Valuation of mineral deposits
Theme 7 (AEM 2016): Advances in Electro-mechanics for Mining and Geo-resources Development will focus on Automation, Robotics and Mechatronics
Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Electric Power Transmission, Mechanical Engineering
Theme 8 (ETESMI): Education and Training of Human Resource for Development of Earth Sciences and Mining Industry (presented by Vietnamese only)
Besides the above scientific themes, the plenary session will be an occasion to pay tribute to scientists, managers and partners for their important contributions to education, training and scientific research of Hanoi University of Mining and Geology within the last 50 years. Typical presentations in the field of Earth Sciences and Sustainable Geo-resources Development will also be introduced at the plenary session.
Field excursions will also be organized with the details as follows:
+ EMMA field trip: 12th and 13rd of November, 2016 in Trang An (Ninh Binh)
+ GAG field trip: 16th and 17th of November, 2016 in Halong Bay and Catba Island
+ GIS IDEAS field trip: 16th of November, 2016 in Sapa (Lao Cai) or Campha (Quang Ninh)
The organizers look forward to receiving contributions of experts and specialists from Vietnam and worldwide, including in-depth studies on Earth Sciences and multi-disciplinary approaches to sustainable Geo-resources development.

Conference language
During the conference as well as during the Opening and Closing Ceremonies the official language will be English, except ETESMI - Education and Training of Human Resource for Development of Earth Sciences and Mining Industry that will be presented by Vietnamese.
Preparation for conference presentation
Oral presentation will be prepared in the form of computer-based electronic presentation. Presenters are encouraged to make their presentations in the form of Microsoft PowerPoint presentation format. Format of presentations is available in the website of the conferences. Projectors and computers will be provided at the presentation room.
Stand-boards will be available for poster presentation. The paper size of posters is A0, presented vertically.
Access to the Internet and e-mail will be available at all presentation rooms of the Conference.
Conference Venue
The conference will be held at the Hanoi University of Mining and Geology, which is located on Duc Thang ward, Bac Tu Liem Dist., Hanoi City. The Function Rooms comprise advanced audio-visual systems suitable for international conferences.
Transportation
Hanoi is a major transportation hub of Vietnam, which can be readily assessed by air transportation. Noi Bai international airport, located 30 km North of the city, is connected to all part of the world by direct or connecting international flights from major domestic or international transport hubs such as Ho Chi Minh City, Hue, Da Nang, Bangkok, Beijing, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Los Angles, Manila, Melbourne, Paris, Singapore, Sydney, Osaka, Seoul, Taipei, etc.
Transportation between airport - hotel and hotel - conference venue and vice versa will be covered by Hanoi University of Mining and Geology.
Passport and Visa
In accordance with the law of Vietnam, a valid passport is required for all passengers for entry and exit of Vietnam. A valid visa will be required for entry Vietnam, except for citizens from countries which have a bi-lateral or multi-lateral agreement on entry with Vietnam. Upon receiving your registration form, the Organizing Committee will issue you an official invitation letter with corresponding visa reference, which can be used to apply for a visa at the nearest Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate. For those who wish to obtain a visa, please provide us in advance with the individual’s passport number, date of issue, date of expire, nationality, which is needed to be included in the official invitation letter.

An invitation letter of the Organizing Committee will be issued to each registered participant if required.
Insurance
The Conference Organizers will not be responsible for personal accidents or property damage that may occur to participants during the symposium, or tours. All participants are advised to make their own health and travel insurance arrangements before traveling to the Conferences.
Foreign Exchange and Banking
The official currency used in Vietnam is Vietnamese Dong (VND). Exchange offices can be found at airports, hotels, large shopping centers and jewelry shops. The current exchange rate (set by the State Bank of Vietnam) is US$ 1.00 = 22,500 VND and Euro 1.00 = 25,500 VND.
About Hanoi
Hanoi is a political, economic and cultural centre of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and covers an area of more than 1000 km2 with a population of more than 5 million. Hanoi is located on the bank of the Red River with a tropical monsoon climate in which the annual average temperature is around 21.8oC and rainfall of 2,000 mm annually. The city enjoys four seasons weather condition, in which November falls in the middle of autumn and is considered the most beautiful time of the year with mild temperature, dry air, and flower-blossom filled streets.
With a 1,000-years history, Hanoi is one of the most ancient cities, a destination of trade and cultural exchange of Vietnam in the past and present. It has been honored the title "The City of Peace" by the UNESCO recently. The unique history and geographic location has made Hanoi the site of many famous historical, religious, and cultural relics, as well as museums, with unique foods and picturesque sceneries to explore.

In Vietnam, the standard electrical supply is 220V and 60 Hz with 2 pin plugs.

In order to raise sufficient funding to make the Conferences very successful, the Organizing Committee sincerely appreciates any form of support from domestic and international organizations. The following privileges will be given to the supporters:
1. The Organizing Committee will be grateful to the supporters at the Opening Ceremony;
2. The names and logos of the supporters and/or supporting agencies will appear on the Symposium web site and published in the “Acknowledgement” of the brochure issued by the Organizing Committee as well as in the Proceedings of the Conferences.
Registration fees
- US$ 100.00 for a participant.
- US$ 150.00 for a participant of GIS IDEAS 2016
- US$ 50.00 for a student/young scientist (please provide your CV with signature of professor or supervisors and include with the registration form)
- US$ 75.00 for an accompanying person
Registration fee for participants and students/young scientists includes Conferences documents and proceedings, certificate, tea breaks and lunches during the Conferences period. Registration fee for accompanying persons includes tea breaks and lunches during the Conferences period. It does not include the cost of accommodation, other meals, transportation, exhibition, and pre- and post-Conference tours.
