The talks delivered at this scientific workshop concentrate on the key issues that are of interest to scientists, such as the application of geosynthetics in geotechnical engineering (reinforced soil walls and slopes, pavement rehabilitation, basal reinforced embankment, tunnel lining), coastal engineering (marine works, inland waterways & impoundments protection), environmental engineering (reinforcement for landfill structures, dewatering, lining system for mine tailing ponds).

The workshop is an ongoing event that is part of an annual schedule of scientific research activities held by the GECMS group to enhance the quality of academic inquiry and technology transfer in the construction industry of the GECMS research team. Additionally, organizing scientific workshops promotes increased collaboration and exchange with domestic and international companies involved in the construction industry.
