
ASEAN Network for Green Entrepreneurship and Leadership/ ANGEL is an Erasmus+ Capacity Building in the field of Higher Education project that aims to build the capacity necessary in eleven ASEAN Universities from Cambodia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Lao PDR and Malaysia for balancing the high potential economic growth and innovation in the partner countries with their lack of capacities in green entrepreneurship as well as resolving entrenched issues and challenges of poverty, low quality jobs in the informal sector, digital divide and leadership gaps. Southeast Asian universities are supported by partners from Greece and Cyprus.

The project aims to:
- to address green entrepreneurship and transformational leadership and social innovation challenges,
- to build a high calibre network of future green entrepreneurial-leaders with effective and efficient style of management who could uphold ethics and good governance while able to connect with the local/regional and international market ecosystem with a multiplier effect in the ASEAN region,

Against the above general aims of ANGEL, the project specifically design the following objectives in the hope to develop an innovative green entrepreneurial-leadership ecosystem that will foster:
- Guidance: an online guide will offer practical, personalized information for building and leading a green enterprise; a targeted training programme, complemented with personal coaching will support the creation of start-ups.
- Engagement: a university network will reach and mobilize both internal and external stakeholders through its ANGEL- Innovate Unit. Internal stakeholders would include faculty members, administrative staff, researchers, students and relevant external partners could be social entrepreneurs, start-ups and government agencies that relates to green entrepreneurship). The ANGEL- Innovate unit will orient learners to the process of design thinking; effective and responsible leadership, supporting grassroot green entrepreneurship and developing patent/copyright.
- Exchanges and sharing: the ANGEL-Hub will be a centre for the development of early-stage startups in green technologies, energy and sustainable development; the ANGEL-Site will provide all the information for the development and visibility of startups; the ANGEL-Community will connect all relevant parties in the University and external stakeholders in exchanging experiences and ideas.
- Support: the ANGEL-Enterprise team will have the mission to support and advance ANGEL in the long term through a) the development of expertise in the commercialization of Universities’ knowledge and technology, b) partnership-building with the external regional/national/international entrepreneurial ecosystem.
To assure above aims and objectives, during the project life, partners will implement 6 work packages below:
- WP1- ANGEL Train the Trainers workshops
- WP2- ANGEL Innovative Units
- WP3- ANGEL Training Programme
- WP4-The quality assurance and evaluation plan and Evaluation report
- WP5-Dissemination and exploitation plan
- WP6-Interim and Final reports
The project consortium expects to obtain the following results:
In all five ASEAN countries:
- ANGEL Entrepreneurship Centres’ model and development will be based on international best practices to create innovative tailor-made structures, that can support university-led entrepreneurship.
- Training programmes will adopt innovative and flexible techniques that respond to specific education needs and promote collaborative learning, leaving room for learners to share and create.
- The ANGEL Guide will be a novel web tool offering online guidance in a targeted, flexible and personalized manner on the practical information faculty members and students need in order to build their own enterprise.
- The ANGEL VLE will follow the latest technology in virtual learning to allow for the collaborative interaction between its users through both learning and assessment activities (eg. ‘practice area’ for sharing entrepreneurial ideas and projects, Discussions Forums, Chats, Wiki etc.).
- Development of an ANGEL network of entrepreneurial universities
- The ANGEL Entrepreneurship prize will be awarded to the best, innovatory idea that emerges out of the ANGEL project activities.
In Viet Nam
- Capacity building to 20 academic and 50 administrative staff
- 2 ANGEL Innovative Unites and 3 ANGEL Hubs will stimulate technology entrepreneurship development and innovation. They will provide a creative environment for aspiring start-ups.
- ANGEL Innovate, law and student Units: ANGEL fosters a comprehensive approach that will complement institutionally-led commitment with bottom-up mobilization and support by intra-university networks, involving the target groups, ie. faculty members, researchers and students as well as administrative staff.
- Coaching and start-up companies
- 2 Infodays will focus on regional/local reality with the aim to involve regional officers, investors and businesses to create stronger, forward-looking, local ecosystems.
- 1 national conference and policy briefs will aim at promoting policy change as well as adopting novel practices at national levels.
This is the third capacity building Erasmus+ project that the University of Mining and Geology participates in with the desire to improve the quality of education, build and support the green entrepreneurship and innovation, and promote cooperation in the field of science and technology in the region and the world.
