During a visit to Hanoi University of Mining and Geology (HUMG) in January 2026, Professor Philippe Lours, Director of International Relations at IMT Mines Albi, France, signed and presented a copy of The Heart of Crystalline Materials to the University’s Information and Library Centre. The book draws on knowledge he has gained through many years of research and teaching, including material he has shared with HUMG students. From 26 to 28 October 2026, the French professor returned to HUMG’s classrooms, bringing new lessons and conversations that extended beyond his academic field.

In 2025, Rivin Migel Arachchige, a student from CESI Nanterre, France, came to Hanoi University of Mining and Geology (HUMG) for an exchange internship. A year later, his brother, Rajeen Migel Arachchige, arrived at HUMG for a research exchange. Both were supervised by Dr. Nguyen Bach Thao, Head of the Department of Hydrogeology, Faculty of Geosciences and Geoengineering. Two brothers, two journeys a year apart, the same university, and the same mentor.

Four students from Hanoi University of Mining and Geology (HUMG)—Truong Ngoc Toan from the Faculty of Petroleum and Energy; Ho Huu Tien from the Advanced Program in Chemical Engineering; and Nguyen Huu Bach and Nguyen Trong Huy from the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration—are taking part in an exchange programme at IMT Mines Albi, France. After more than a month, they are gradually finding their rhythm in a new environment as they adjust to studying in France, living independently and supporting one another far from home.

GEC 2026 Registration now open: Put your geography skills to the test and aim for iGEO 2027

Registration is now open for the Geography & Environment Challenge (GEC) 2026, welcoming students aged 16–19 studying at educational institutions in Vietnam. The competition offers students with an interest in geography, the environment and Earth sciences an opportunity to test not only their knowledge but also their map-reading skills, data analysis, spatial thinking and ability to explain real-world issues.

Hanoi University of Mining and Geology holds opening ceremony for Polish language and culture course

On the afternoon of 1 October 2026, Hanoi University of Mining and Geology (HUMG) held the opening ceremony for its Polish Language and Culture Course in Pho Yen Meeting Room, welcoming students from HUMG and several nearby universities. The course is taught by Ms. Weronika Paulina Rossa, a Polish lecturer assigned to HUMG by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) under the NAWA Lecturers Programme.

From 6 to 25 September 2026, five students and graduate students from Hanoi University of Mining and Geology (HUMG) participated in the 2026 International Summer Camp on Future Transportation hosted by Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST), China. The HUMG participants were Le Cong Cuong and Tu Trieu Nhat from the Faculty of Civil Engineering; Ha Minh Duong and Duong Quynh Anh from the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration; and Nguyen Thi Thanh Xuan from the Faculty of Geomatics and Land Administration.

From 26 August to 8 September 2026, Nguyen Pham Bao Tran, a student from the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Hanoi University of Mining and Geology (HUMG), participated in CommTECH Camp Highlight 2026 – Stream 2: Engineering Innovations. The programme was hosted by Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) in Surabaya, Indonesia.
