The company has been a trusted partner and valuable sponsor of educational and research activities of the Hanoi University of Mining and Geology since 2000. In November 2000 Schlumberger Vietnam presented the university with a donation worth US$400,000. This support included geological and geophysical software, a complete set of industry books, a hardware platform, and printing equipment, as well as refurbishment of the technical library. In October 2014 Schlumberger Vietnam supported the reservoir characterization center with a value of 19.6 million USD for the Hanoi University of Mining and Geology. The software has been updated annually since then for better performance of users.
Speaking at the celebration, Prof. Dr. Tran Thanh Hai thanked SLB Vietnam for the valuable support throughout the years, which provided many opportunities for academic staff and students of the Hanoi University of Mining and Geology to develop their knowledge and skills, capacity in training, and research, and helped the Hanoi University of Mining and Geology be a leading university in earth sciences, especially in the field related to petroleum research and exploration, and one of the best technical universities in Vietnam nowadays.
