10 Doctoral positions offered by International Research Training Group

The Sino-German Research Training Group (GRK 2309) "Geo-ecosystems in transition on the Tibetan Plateau" (TransTiP), funded by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), offers a research oriented doctoral program analyzing different aspects of Earth surface fluxes on the Tibetan Plateau in four distinct project areas: Sediment fluxes, carbon fluxes, water fluxes and water quality, as well as human dimessions of climate change. For the starts as of January 1st 2021, TransTiP is now offering 10 PhD positions (3 years, 50 - 100%). Application deadline: May 31st 2020.

HUMG Signs Agreement with New Mexico Tech

Representatives of HUMG met with a delegation from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology ( New Mexico Tech), on Monday to sign a memorandum of understanding between the universities. Dr. Stephen G. Wells, president of the university, presented HUMG officials with a Hopi Kachina doll, a Native American doll meant to bring good fortune.

HUMG Students Have Opportunity for Study in Poland

Representatives of AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, Poland, visited the HUMG campus last week in efforts to strengthen cooperation between the universities. They are developing programs that will make it easier for HUMG students to attend university in Poland and to prepare themselves beforehand with courses in Polish and English at HUMG.

Hanoi University of Mining and Geology installed and operated the equipment funded by the Erasmus + ESSENCE project

On November 18, 2019, a system of laboratory equipment for electrical engineering training funded by the Erasmus + ESSENCE project was installed at the Hanoi University of Mining and Geology. Shortly thereafter, on November 21 and 22, 2019, the supplier had software instruction sessions for lecturers and lab instructors of the Electrification Department and the Faculty of Electro-Mechanics.

On November 11 2019, Rector of HUMG Prof. Tran Thanh Hai visited the Sergo Ordzhonikidze Russian State University (the Moscow Polytechnic Institute), participating in the round table on “Russian Geologists and the Exploration Complex of Vietnam” and discussing with leaders of the Moscow Polytechnic Institute, Russia for further collaboration among the two institutes.

Leaders of HUMG visit UK higher education institutions to strengthen UK - VN Higher Education collaboration

The visit was organized by British Council Viet Nam with the participation of more than 30 leaders of 15 Viet Nam universities to the UK, meeting and discussing with over 30 UK institutions in an intensive working week. HUMG, a member of the UK - VN Higher Education Network, contributed to the success of the visit with the active participation of Prof. Rector Tran Thanh Hai.

From October 28th, 2019 to November 03rd, 2019, delegations from China University of Mining and Technology in Xuzhou (CUMT), and Saint Petersburg Mining University (SPMU - Russia) were visiting Hanoi University of Mining and Geology, participating in the International seminar on "Mechanical Equipment and Technology in Mining". The seminar was an attractive event with to the audience from the university, subsidiaries of Vietnam National Coal Mineral Industry Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin), research institutes and PhD students.
