EMMA is a bi-annual conference that has been organized since 2003 incorporation with Technische Hochschule Georg Agricola in Bochum, Germany. Since 2018 the conference is under the auspices of the Society of Mining Professors. Today, EMMA is a significant conference in mining management, integrating many partners from the mining industry and the auxiliary ones. This conference is also a reliable event to academians, scientists, authorities, NGOs, and industry, regarding strong commitments in better education and training, knowledge, and experiences exchange among stakeholders.
Together with the development of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration in the last 20 years, EMMA is critical evidence for the efforts and success of the academic and administrative staff of the Faculty in lecturing and research. In the opening speech of the conference, Prof. Tran Thanh Hai, Rector of Hanoi University of Mining and Geology congratulated the faculty and confirmed this statement. He strongly believed that the conference could be a good opportunity for collaboration and academic exchanges at the national and international levels, and with industries.

In the plenary session of EMMA 5, Prof. Jürgen Kretschmann, President of Technische Hochschule Georg Agricola in Bochum, Germany, Immediate Past President of Society of Mining Professors and Prof. Serkan Saydam, School of Mining and Petroleum, University of New South Wales, Australia, Deputy Secretary of Society of Mining Professors delivered keynote presentations on post-mining and off-earth mining. These presentations were attractive to many participants of the conference, both joined on-site and through MS. Teams.
The Organizing Committee and Scientific Committee also selected 48 qualified papers to publish in the conference proceedings, and 11 authors presented their research results in the conference hall.
