16/12/2024

On December 13, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen The Vinh - Vice Rector of the Hanoi University of Mining and Geology and representatives of faculties and International Office had a meeting with Mr. Evgeny Mitrofanov - Counselor for Education and Science of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Hanoi and Dr. Anastasiia Mashkova - Director for Development of Integration Policy, National Research University "MPEI" and also representative of Russian - Vietnamese Consortium of technical universities, on the possibility of HUMG joining the consortium and opportunities of further cooperation.

On behalf of HUMG, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen The Vinh expressed the gratitude to the Embassy of the Russian Federation for its support and assistance in cooperation with Russian higher education institutions, and HUMG's desire to join the Russian - Vietnamese Consortium of technical universities to enhance future cooperation opportunities.

The Russian - Vietnamese Consortium of technical universities was established within the framework of the fourth meeting of the Russian - Vietnamese Committee on Cooperation in the Field of Education, Science and Technology on December 1, 2023 with the aim of promoting Russian-Vietnamese cooperation in education and science and technology, including: supporting education and training of human resources, developing innovation potential, strengthening scientific cooperation, and forming technology clusters. The members of the Consortium include Russian and Vietnamese educational institutions and industrial companies, who are interested in forming a common scientific-educational environment. Joining the Consortium will create conditions for HUMG to continue developing cooperation with Russian partners and open up new cooperation opportunities in training and scientific research.

Dr. Anastasiia Mashkova highly appreciated the achievements and international cooperation capacity of HUMG, especially the cooperation activities with the Russian Federation such as: staff and student mobility programs; sending students to participate in international summer schools and cultural events, sports festivals in Russia; sending lecturers to participate in international conferences organized by Russian universities; joint research and publications; hosting events of Russian alumni; ... and believed that with the international cooperation orientation of the university, HUMG is a potential candidate and meets the criteria to register as a member of the Consortium. HUMG also has advantages in submitting its application when the National Research University “MPEI”, a co-founder of the Consortium, and several universities of the Consortium (Ural Federal University, Tyumen Industrial University) are also partners of the university.

On this occasion, the two sides also agreed to proceed with the signing of a renewed Memorandum of Understanding between the Hanoi University of Mining and Geology and the National Research University “MPEI” (first signed in 2018).
