The conference was organized by the Ministry of Education and Training of Viet Nam within the framework of the Vietnam–Russian Federation Year of Science and Education 2026. The event brought together government leaders, representatives of ministries and agencies, and delegates from numerous higher education institutions in both countries. It served as an important platform for strengthening connections between Vietnamese and Russian universities and promoting cooperation in education, scientific research, innovation, and high-quality human resource development amid the continued development of bilateral relations between Viet Nam and the Russian Federation.
Hanoi University of Mining and Geology has long maintained close academic ties with leading Russian universities, including Saint Petersburg Mining University, Moscow State Mining University, Sergo Ordzhonikidze Russian State University for Geological Prospecting, Tomsk Polytechnic University, Tyumen Industrial University, Ural Federal University, and Kazan Federal University. Generations of HUMG faculty members and researchers have received education and training in the Russian Federation, laying a solid foundation for the University’s international cooperation activities. Currently, HUMG maintains active partnerships with numerous Russian higher education and research institutions through more than ten active memoranda of understanding.
As part of the conference programme, HUMG participated in the Signing Ceremony of Cooperation Agreements between Vietnamese and Russian Universities. On this occasion, the University signed four memoranda of understanding with North Caucasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (State Technological University), North-Eastern Federal University, Ufa University of Science and Technology, and Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University. These institutions possess strong expertise in engineering, technology, natural sciences, and applied research, which aligns closely with HUMG’s strategic priorities in education and research.
The newly signed agreements focus on academic staff, student and postgraduate exchanges; the development of joint education and research programmes; the promotion of international scientific publications; and the co-organization of academic and research activities.
