The conference was organised within the framework of the NAWA Strategic Partnerships project, funded by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA), to promote cooperation in research and education and strengthen institutional links between AGH University of Krakow and its partner higher education institutions in Vietnam. These institutions include Hanoi University of Science and Technology; Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City; The University of Danang – University of Science and Technology; and Hanoi University of Mining and Geology.
Through its scientific presentations and its role in chairing a scientific session, HUMG demonstrated its research capacity in construction materials technology, water resources and environmental studies, while strengthening connections with research groups from Vietnam and Poland. The research findings presented by Dr. Pham Thanh Hai, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Khuong The Hung and Dr. Nguyen Bach Thao, together with Dr. To Xuan Ban’s chairing of the scientific session on water and soil environmental monitoring, helped enhance HUMG’s academic profile at the conference. HUMG also showcased its educational strengths, research priorities and potential for international cooperation to participating partners.

With more than 40 years of cooperation, AGH University of Krakow is one of HUMG’s long-standing strategic partners, with significant achievements in education, scientific research and knowledge sharing. As a continuation of the project’s activities, a delegation from AGH University of Krakow, led by Mr. Paweł Świerk, Director of the Centre for International Cooperation, visited HUMG on the morning of 22 July 2026 and held a working session with its staff members, lecturers and students.
During the programme, Mr. Paweł Świerk presented AGH University of Krakow’s strengths in education and scientific research, as well as its international cooperation network.

Ms. Aleksandra Perkins-Oleszkowicz, Deputy Director of the Centre for International Cooperation, introduced the activities of the NAWA Strategic Partnerships project and provided information on two micro-credential courses scheduled for 2027: “Control and Virtual Prototyping in Design of Mechatronic Systems” and “Modern Trenchless Technologies.” Under the project plan, 40 Vietnamese students will have the opportunity to participate in these courses. She also introduced the PROM and SPINAKER international scholarship and exchange programmes, opening up further opportunities for HUMG undergraduate students, master’s students, doctoral candidates and lecturers to study, conduct research and gain academic experience in Poland.

The programme attracted considerable interest from HUMG staff members and lecturers, as well as nearly 50 HUMG students. In particular, students who had participated in courses under the NAWA Strategic Partnerships project in 2026 shared firsthand insights into the learning and research environment, as well as daily life at AGH University of Krakow. Their experiences helped other students gain a clearer understanding of the learning and personal development opportunities offered by the project.

The series of activities further strengthened the partnership between Hanoi University of Mining and Geology and AGH University of Krakow, while creating additional opportunities for international study and research for HUMG staff members, lecturers and students. Building on more than 40 years of cooperation, the two universities will continue to implement practical programmes that link their research strengths to education and the development of high-quality human resources.
