Viet Nam - Poland Higher Education Cooperation Round Table in Hanoi

Hanoi University hosted the Viet Nam - Poland Higher Education Cooperation round table today. The event is supported by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange NAWA, attracting the participation of 17 higher education institutions and more than 30 representatives of higher education institutions from Viet Nam. Prof. Tran Thanh Hai, Rector of HUMG participated in the program.

The meeting was opened by the speech of Dr. Pham Ngoc Thach, President of Hanoi University Council, and H.E Wojciech Gerwel, the Ambassador of Poland in Viet Nam. In his speech, H.E Gerwell is pround of excellent achievement that the Polish higher education institutions have achieved and promises to support Vietnam in broadening collaboration among partners in education and science research.

The Deputy Director of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) - the organizer of the round table - Ms. Agnieszka Stefaniak - Hrycko introduced participants about the role of Nawa and the efforts of bringing Polish universties to Viet Nam partners, supporting students from Viet Nam studying in Poland in different degrees and strenthening collaboration in science research with the huge potential alumni. The round table witnessed representatives of Poland and Viet Nam higher education institutions exchanged their experiences in international and mutual collaboration and expectation for new partnerships. 

AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, a member of the Polish group of higher education institutions, and Hanoi University of Mining and Geology are maintaining their partnership since 35 years. AGH, the university that has been developing to a multi-disciplines university from mining and geology education, has been contributing to educate many generations of students and academic staff of HUMG, improving capacity of science research. Recently, the two universities are launching Unesco program and Erasmus program, enhancing students exchange and staff mobility as well as conducting join research. Every two years, a scientific conference is organized alternatively in Poland and Viet Nam, creating a forum for researchers, especially the young ones, to exchange knowledge and research outcomes.
