The event took place as HUMG prepares to celebrate its 60th anniversary, marking an important milestone in the University’s journey of growth, innovation, and international integration. Among the distinguished guests were representatives from the Ministry of Education and Training, government agencies, higher education institutions, industry partners, diplomatic missions, and other partner organizations. Representing HUMG were members of the Board of Presidency, former university leaders, faculty members, staff, students, alumni, and representatives of the University’s affiliated units and organizations.
At the ceremony, decisions of the Ministry of Education and Training were officially announced appointing Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Xuan Truong as President, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen The Vinh, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trieu Hung Truong, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Khanh as Vice Presidents of HUMG.
The newly appointed Board of Presidency was formally introduced and received congratulations from representatives of the Ministry of Education and Training, the Party Committee of Hanoi Universities and Colleges, government agencies, industry partners, and organizations within and beyond the University community.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Son, Member of the Hanoi Party Committee and Secretary of the Party Committee of Hanoi Universities and Colleges, congratulated HUMG on the appointment of its new leadership team and acknowledged the University’s longstanding contributions to higher education, scientific research, and human resource development in Vietnam. He also expressed confidence that the new Board of Presidency would build upon the University’s achievements and lead HUMG into a new phase of growth, innovation, and international engagement.

On behalf of the new Board of Presidency, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Xuan Truong expressed his sincere gratitude for the trust and confidence placed in the new leadership. He reaffirmed HUMG’s commitment to innovation, academic excellence, internationalization, and sustainable development, emphasizing priorities in modern university governance, educational quality, research and innovation, digital transformation, and international cooperation. He also underscored the Board of Presidency’s determination to build on past achievements and further develop HUMG into a modern, multidisciplinary, and globally connected university that contributes to Vietnam’s sustainable development and the global knowledge community.

One of the most memorable moments of the ceremony was the tribute to Prof. Dr. Tran Thanh Hai. Through a commemorative video and heartfelt reflections from colleagues, students, alumni, and partners, participants revisited the inspiring journey of a scientist, educator, and academic leader whose more than three decades of dedication have been closely intertwined with the growth and development of HUMG. The tribute celebrated not only his professional achievements, but also his lifelong commitment to science, education, institutional development, and service to society, while reflecting the deep respect and appreciation of generations of students, colleagues, and partners. Under his leadership, HUMG strengthened its academic reputation, expanded international cooperation, modernized its learning and research environment, and further enhanced its contribution to society through education, research, and innovation.

In his farewell remarks, Prof. Dr. Tran Thanh Hai expressed his sincere appreciation to generations of faculty members, staff, students, alumni, and partners for their trust and support throughout his journey. Reflecting on more than 30 years at HUMG, he emphasized that the University’s achievements were the result of the collective efforts and dedication of the entire HUMG community, and expressed his confidence in the new Board of Presidency and the University’s future development.
