The CBIE Annual Conference is Canada’s premier event in the field of international education, organized by the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE). The 2025 conference brought together educators, policymakers, and representatives of higher education institutions from around the world to foster collaboration in student exchange, research, and academic innovation. The event attracted more than 1,300 delegates from 50 countries and featured over 60 exhibitors and 75 sessions held over four consecutive days, from November 2 to 5, 2025.

The Vietnamese delegation, led by the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam (MOET), included 12 universities, with coordination from the Embassy and Consulate General of Canada in Vietnam. As the Country Spotlight at CBIE2025, Vietnam organized a dedicated session on the opening day to introduce Vietnamese higher education to international delegates. Following that, bilateral meetings were arranged for Vietnamese universities to connect directly with participating institutions and organizations. At these sessions, the HUMG delegation met with several Canadian universities as well as higher education institutions from other countries to explore potential areas of collaboration and mutual interest.
In addition to the conference sessions, the Vietnamese delegation held two important meetings with the Ministries of Advanced Education of Saskatchewan and Québec, along with universities and colleges from these provinces. The discussions focused on reviewing existing partnerships and exploring new initiatives. HUMG representatives also proposed organizing a Vietnam–Canada Mining Symposium in April 2026 in Hanoi to explore potential cooperation in rare earth and strategic mineral resources.

On November 6, 2025, the HUMG delegation visited Polytechnique Montréal during its International Mobility Fair to promote HUMG’s short-term academic exchange and research internship programs, attract international students, and connect with representatives from other leading technical universities. HUMG and Polytechnique Montréal have successfully collaborated for several years through the Canada–ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED) Program of the Government of Canada. During the visit, Prof. Dr. Tran Thanh Hai met and encouraged HUMG students currently undertaking research internships at Polytechnique Montréal.
