Since the beginning of 2026, HUMG has recorded nearly 50 student participations in international study, research, internships and exchange activities across countries and territories in Europe and Asia. Some journeys have lasted only a few days, while others have continued for months; some students have travelled abroad two or three times during the year. Each experience has brought its own colour, creating memorable moments for HUMG students in this special anniversary year.

When the Classroom Opens onto the World
From their familiar classrooms in Hanoi, HUMG students have had opportunities to enter academic environments at universities, research institutes and educational institutions abroad. These have included long-term study and internships in France with full Erasmus+ scholarships, time spent conducting laboratory research and exploring new technologies, as well as academic activities, fieldwork and cultural exchanges in various countries.

Each programme offers different opportunities to learn and explore. Some students have observed technologies they had previously encountered only in textbooks; others have experienced a more independent approach to learning for the first time, or discovered new interests through discussions with lecturers and fellow students from around the world. Alongside gaining specialist knowledge, they have developed adaptability, independent thinking and confidence in working in multicultural environments.

What Stays with Us after Each Journey
Behind the smiling photographs and certificates are stories that cannot always be fully told: the uncertainty of the first days away from home, the joy of overcoming a challenge, or friendships that began in a classroom far away. Some seemingly small moments can still bring a smile many years later.

For Tu Trieu Nhat, a student in the Faculty of Civil Engineering, opportunities to study and take part in exchanges abroad have become a memorable part of university life. Following similar experiences in previous years, Nhat undertook three more trips in 2026 alone. Despite having visited many places, he still feels excited before each departure, as every destination and every encounter brings something new.
“Some trips took place a long time ago, but I still remember the friends I studied with and explored an unfamiliar city with, and the farewells when we did not know when we would meet again. After travelling more, I have realised that what matters most is not how many places I have visited, but whom I have met, what I have learned and how I have changed. Some experiences come only once in our youth, and I always feel fortunate to have made the most of those opportunities,” Tu Trieu Nhat shared.

Bringing the World Home
Behind each journey are opportunities built through HUMG’s international cooperation network. Through scholarships, exchanges, research and internships, the University’s partnerships with institutions abroad are increasingly translated into practical opportunities for students to learn and develop.

The value of these experiences continues after students return home. They share knowledge, experience and everyday stories with lecturers and friends, inspiring other students to seek opportunities to study abroad. One person’s experience can become the beginning of someone else’s dream.
Over sixty years of development, generations of lecturers and students at Hanoi University of Mining and Geology have sustained a tradition of learning, research and the pursuit of progress. Today, that tradition lives on in young people who confidently step into the world, carrying their pride in HUMG and returning with new knowledge, perspectives and aspirations.
For what matters most is not simply how far HUMG students have travelled, but how much wider their world has become with each journey.
