The HUMG delegation visited and worked with Guangxi University of Science and Technology (GXUST).
During the programme at GXUST, the delegation explored the University’s application-oriented education and research model at the Liudong Campus, particularly at the School of Intelligent Vehicle Manufacturing and New Energy Automobile Industry and the School of Automation. Through visits to laboratories and practical training centres, together with academic discussions, the delegation gained further insight into GXUST’s education and research capacity and its application of advanced technologies in new energy vehicles, automation, artificial intelligence and industrial safety.

Alongside the professional activities, the HUMG staff and students learned about the history, culture and people of Guangxi. In Liuzhou, the delegation visited the President Ho Chi Minh Memorial House, which preserves documents and artefacts relating to the period when President Ho Chi Minh was engaged in revolutionary activities in China. The visit gave the delegation a deeper understanding of the traditional friendship between Viet Nam and China. The delegation also visited several notable cultural, historical and architectural sites in Liuzhou and Nanning, further enriching their experiences during the trip.

Cooperation between HUMG and GXUST has gradually developed through a range of exchanges between the two institutions. Prior to this visit, GXUST leaders and representatives had visited HUMG to learn about its education and research capacity and discuss potential areas of cooperation. The HUMG delegation’s visit to GXUST further advanced the areas of cooperation previously agreed upon by the two universities.
A major outcome of the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation and an Agreement on the 2+2 Joint Training Programme in Chinese Language. These documents provide a foundation for HUMG and GXUST to strengthen cooperation in scientific research, staff and student exchanges, academic and cultural activities, and connections between their faculties and schools. They will also facilitate the gradual implementation of the 2+2 programme in the coming period.
Reflecting on the visit, Pham Minh Hieu, a student from the Faculty of Mining, said:
“The academic visit and exchange programme at GXUST provided me with many valuable practical experiences. I was particularly impressed by the advanced technologies at the School of Intelligent Vehicle Manufacturing and New Energy Automobile Industry and the School of Automation, as well as the application of technical and battery safety standards in manufacturing. These experiences helped me consolidate my knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health, broaden my understanding of green technologies and gain further motivation for my studies.”
Duong Minh Anh, a student from the Faculty of Environment, shared:
“The visit and exchange programme at GXUST was a memorable experience for me. I had the opportunity to learn about the University’s facilities, laboratory systems and modern research spaces, particularly the equipment used in the medical field. The visit to Nanning also broadened my perspective and helped me gain a better understanding of a multicultural learning environment. This was the second time I had participated in a study visit and exchange programme in China organised by HUMG, providing me with further valuable experiences and greater motivation to continue my studies and engage more confidently in international environments.”
The visit to GXUST not only opened up new directions for cooperation between the two universities in education, scientific research and academic exchange, but also provided HUMG staff and students with opportunities to experience the educational environment, culture and daily life of Guangxi. The outcomes of the visit will serve as a foundation for the two universities to implement substantive cooperation activities, contributing to HUMG’s internationalisation and the enhancement of the quality of its education.
