Hanoi University of Mining and Geology tightening its linkage with industry

The improvement of the linkage of university and industry becomes important to universities all around the world nowadays. As a unique university in Viet Nam providing education and doing research in earth sciences - mining and relevant areas, Hanoi University of Mining and Geology has been maintaining and enhancing their effective collaboration with companies throughout the years.

Nui Phao Mining is one of mining companies that maintains a close partnership to HUMG. On October 22, 2019, Nui Phao and its supplier, Three A Technologies, representatives Mr. Sam Tan facililated a seminar at HUMG, discussing on results from the application of gas bag Kool Dek in blasting in Nui Phao.

The seminar is a good opportunity for researchers, lecturers and students of the Mining Faculty to update advances in technologies and practice and developing new research ideas, according to Prof. Pham Van Hoa, Dean of the Faculty.

Nui Phao Mining is a member of Masan Group, a unique tungsten-polymetallic mine which is currently one of the world's lowest-cost producers of tungsten. Many alumni of HUMG are now working in different positions in Nui Phao, from engineers to high level managers. Nui Phao also supports HUMG in sponsoring international conference and knowledge exchange, joining scientific research with other partners from Germany, and Canada, etc. 

 

On October 24th, Dr. Soon Teh, representative of 12d Solutions Pty Ltd. Australia, visited HUMG, donating 40 key licenses of 12d software to the universtiy. On behalf of HUMG, Vice Rector Prof. Bui Xuan Nam received the donation and expressed the special thanks.

The software is used in HUMG only for education and research. This is an optimal software for mine design, surveying, road construction, geotechnique, and tunneling, etc.12d Solutions Pty Ltd. will provide training activities for academic staff and students of HUMG in 2020 to utilize the software.

12d Solutions was established in Australia 30 years ago. Today the company is the employer of almost 30 Vietnamese overseas. In the next two years, the priority of the company is supporting education in Viet Nam.
