The round table on "Rusian Geologists and the Exploration Complex of Vietnam" was an event among those that are planned for the year of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the Russian Federation.
From Russian side, Vice-Rector for Research Prof. Vagif Kerimov, Vice-Rector for International and Regional Cooperation Prof. Anastasia Mashkova and the faculty of the Sergo Ordzhonikidze Russian State University (the Moscow Polytechnic Institute) such as Prof. Andrey Litvinenko, Head of the Department of Gemology, Prof. Denis Gorobtsov, Dean of the Hydrogeological Faculty, Prof. Yuri Borovkov, Department of geotechnological methods and physical processes of mining; Prof. Zinaida Nazarova, Head of the Department of Production and Financial Management, and other scientists such as Mr. Evgeny Moylanen (Institute of Management of the RAS) and Mr. Vladimir Ratkin (Far Eastern Geological Institute of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences). Students and post-graduate students from Vietnam studying at the Sergo Ordzhonikidze Russian State University took part in the round table as observers.
In the round table, topical issues and problems of geotectonics, metallogeny, gemology of Vietnam, the exploration and development of mineral deposits in the country were discussed.

Following the results of the round table, Rector Tran Thanh Hai proposed to conduct additional consultations on the identified topics in order to create specific bilateral research and applied programs.
The Vietnamese delegation also met with the Rector of the Sergo Ordzhonikidze Russian State University, Vadim Kosyanov, where they discussed expanding academic cooperation between universities: double degree programs, increasing the number of students from Vietnam at the Sergo Ordzhonikidze Russian State University and other topics of bilateral interest.
