Hanoi University of Mining and Geology participated in APAIE 2026 and expanded international cooperation

From 23 to 27 February 2026, a delegation from Hanoi University of Mining and Geology (HUMG), led by Prof. Dr. Tran Thanh Hai, Rector of the University, participated in the Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) Conference and Exhibition 2026 in Hong Kong (China). The event brought together approximately 3,000 delegates from over 70 countries and territories. HUMG was among 17 Vietnamese higher education institutions represented at the conference, engaging with partners across the region and worldwide.

On 24 February, HUMG held working meetings with universities from Italy, France, Poland, Türkiye, Canada, the Philippines, Australia, and several other countries. Discussions focused on expanding student and faculty exchange programs, developing joint academic and research initiatives, promoting credit recognition and flexible training pathways, and exploring opportunities for internationally funded projects. These priorities reflect HUMG’s commitment to enhancing academic quality, strengthening research capacity, and deepening global engagement.

Representatives of Universities Participating in APAIE 2026 Met with HUMG to Discuss Potential Academic Cooperation

Building upon these exchanges, 25 February marked a highlight of the visit as HUMG signed four Memoranda of Understanding with universities from the Philippines and Türkiye. The agreements support cooperation in student mobility, joint research, co-organization of international conferences, and scholarly publication, particularly in strategic areas such as mineral resources, energy transition, marine resources, and sustainable development. The signing formalized prior discussions and laid the foundation for long-term institutional collaboration.

On 26 February, further meetings with partners from France, Canada, and Australia continued to advance concrete cooperation plans, contributing to the steady expansion of HUMG’s international academic network.

Through its participation in APAIE 2026, HUMG reaffirmed its active role in implementing Vietnam’s policies on higher education internationalization and demonstrated its position as a dynamic and reliable partner for global cooperation. With more than 60 years of development, the University continues to strengthen its role as a reputable institution for education and research in its core disciplines. With its strong academic foundation in mineral resources, energy, and geosciences, HUMG offers distinctive expertise within Southeast Asia and remains committed to building mutually beneficial international partnerships. Through these efforts, the University contributes to high-quality human resource development and advances the sustainable growth of the mineral and energy industrial ecosystem in the context of global transformation.
