EMMA is a bi-annual event which is co-organized by Hanoi University of Mining and Geology (HUMG) and Technische Hochschule Georg Agricola Bochum (THGA, Germany). This conference is an initiative from Prof. Jürgen Kretschmann, the President of THGA and A/Prof. Nguyen Thi Hoai Nga, a senior lecturer of HUMG. They are now serving as the President (2018 – 2019) and Member of Asia in the Council of Society of Mining Professors (SOMP). Therefore, this year the conference EMMA 4 is under the auspice of SOMP, attracting members of the Society and many international scientists from five different continents.

The International Conference on Geo-spatial Technologies and Earth Resources (GTER-2017), which was held during October 5-6, 2017, at the Hanoi University of Mining and Geology (HUMG), Hanoi, Vietnam. GTER-2017 is co-organized by HUMG and International Society for Mine Surveying (ISM) to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Department of Mine Surveying (HUMG).
